BRITAIN’S OLDEST TWINS DREAM STEAM TRAIN JOURNEY

Lilian Cox and Doris Hobday, both 95, boarded the Northern Belle train at Chester station on Saturday, November 2 at 3.40pm for a trip of decadence and memories.

The trip, organised by experience gift company Red Letter Days’ #NoMoreSlippers campaign, took the twins - who are from Tipton, West Midlands - to Morecambe Bay to overlook an amazing fireworks display.

What’s more, on the way they enjoyed a seven-course dinner and the glamour associated with a 1930s train.

Doris, reflecting on the trip, said: “We thoroughly enjoyed reliving the excitement and glamour of making a journey by rail.

The #NoMoreSlippers campaign aims to treat older people over the festive period and encourage them to make the most of their lives and to not let age become a barrier.
