Northern Belle travels year-round to a wide variety of destinations. These include scenic countryside and coastal lunch excursions looping back to the original departure point. Along with full day trips to Castles, Stately homes, Gardens, Seaside resorts, Historic Cities & special sporting excursions such as Ascot and Cheltenham.
Departure stations include London Victoria, Manchester, Leeds, Crewe, Liverpool and many more throughout the UK.
The Northern Belle operates on average 100 excursions a year with a variety of locomotives. Most of our excursions are with heritage diesel locomotives but on special dates we will use heritage steam engines. These are denoted as Steam Specials.
Northern Belle has a variety of price points depending on the excursion type. Some have more food and beverage elements along with off train visit costs that reflect in the price differentials.
Northern Belle has limited tables for two. We are happy to take a request, however this is not a guarantee and there is a chance that you may be sharing a table of four with another couple. Subject to availability you may guarantee a table for two by paying a supplement of £75 per passenger. When booking online if private tables of two are available you can select your preference, but you can select a shared table without a supplement subject to availability.
All of the Northern Belle carriages are vintage pullman style. Each row of seats is a table for two and across the aisle a table for four.
All tickets purchased for the Northern Belle trips are not available to book as an open return. We do sometimes offer a trip with overnight stays in hotels, but all other trips are a return journey and singles are not available.
Unfortunately we do not offer this facility. All tickets must be purchased in advance in order to make your day extra special.
We do not allow any pets to be brought onboard the Northern Belle train. The only exception to this is guide dogs, but this is only available by prior arrangement. Most Northern Belle trips are very long journeys and therefore not suitable for pets.
Your travel documents and itinerary will be sent to you by email once we have received confirmed timings from Network Rail (approximately 5 to 7 days prior to departure).
Northern Belle is a luxury vintage restaurant train and it is not possible to travel overnight on board. Occasionally we do offer weekend breaks using the train to travel to the destination where hotels will be provided. Please ask the Travel centre for further details.
While you are on board your meals and drinks, as described in the itinerary, are included. A selected range of alternative alcoholic drinks are also available for purchase.
