IT WAS A VERY GOOD YEAR

WELL, what an exciting year 2019 was for us all at Northern Belle – especially with Flying Scotsman pulling two of our special excursions during the summer.

Newspapers and TV stations gave massive coverage, describing it as an “historic day” with “the world’s most famous steam engine hauling one of the world’s most luxurious trains”.

We are sure none of you who were fortunate enough to travel on those two sold-out services from Crewe and Manchester would argue.

Nor would the thousands of eager trainspotters and railway enthusiasts aged from eight to 80 who crowded station platforms, bridges and level crossings to wave at the train.

So how on earth do we follow that in 2020?

Well, we have pulled together another wonderful selection of journeys to historic cities, seaside resorts, stately homes, famous castles, race meetings and loads more.

There are trips to the theatre and to celebrate special occasions like Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Fireworks Night and, of course, Christmas.

Then we have relaxing journeys which just meander through beautiful countryside while pampered passengers relax in our luxurious 1930s-style “Pullman” carriages and tuck into a sumptuous lunch or dinner.

Rest assured, our head chef Matthew Green has spent the holiday season dreaming up yet more of his delicious menus to tickle your taste buds.

But perhaps most exciting of all, this year for the first time we are running a series of Murder Mystery Lunch trips. VIEW MURDER MYSTER LUNCH TRIPS

So far on the Northern Belle – unlike in Agatha Christie’s famous story about the Orient Express – nobody has met a sticky end (well, apart perhaps from the odd passenger who spilled their soup!).

However all that is set to change. Then it will be up to you to turn detective, exercise those little grey cells and, while you tuck into your seven-course lunch, work out whodunnit.

Just one clue: It wasn’t the butler. Or at least we don’t think so!
